Health & Safety Law

Health and Safety LawHealth & safety compliance in Ireland has received increased focus in recent years from the regulatory body responsible - the Health and Safety Authority. The HSA carries out routine inspections and investigates accidents and other dangerous occurrences at places of work. The HSA can issue recommendations to the employer or in certain circumstances take court action to ensure certain safety steps are taken. In extreme circumstances, the HSA can seek a court order to close the place of work.

Sinnott & Company advise on all aspects of health & safety compliance. We advise on compliance, defence of prosecutions and have experience of working closely with clients as they deal with the impact of an accident in the workplace.

European and Irish health & safety legislation governing the area is under constant revision. At Sinnott & Company we provide advice to clients on how such changes affect the obligations imposed on them both in terms of their employees and their contractual obligations with other particularly in construction projects. We also have close links with the Construction Industry Federation in relation to health & safety.

We have experience across all industry sectors including manufacturing, retail, banking, transport and healthcare. In each of these industry sectors we provide advice to businesses regarding their statutory obligations to employees and to members of the public who may be affected by the operation of the business.
