IRC Statement on Department of Justice denial about Five-year Review

The Irish Refugee Council (IRC) has received information that the Department of Justice and Law Reform is denying that any review of older cases is taking place. The information on the IRC website dated August 5th is information that was given by phone directly to the CEO of IRC by an assistant principal officer of the Department of Justice on two separate occasions. The information received by the IRC was recorded contemporaneously. Subsequent communications with the Department of Justice have not resulted in the Department of Justice stating to the IRC that the information was incorrect or has been misunderstood.

The IRC therefore stands by the information recorded on the website on August 5th 2010 as correct.
